The file a portal rejected — find the fix and apply it
Drop the rejected file; Bindery reads what is wrong with it — too big, locked, a picture where text should be — and takes you to the right repair.
Free: 3 jobs per UTC day, 25 MB per file. PDF exports include a visible Made with Bindery watermark. Pro exports clean PDFs.

A portal rejects a file with a bare message — “file too large”, “upload failed” — and no hint at what would pass. Fix my file reads the PDF instead of guessing: how big it really is, whether it opens, whether it is locked or carries restrictions, whether its pages hold text or just pictures, whether live form fields are in the way. From those facts it lays out the two or three repairs that apply, the most likely one first.
Each card is one tap into the tool that does the work, with your file already staged: shrink it or split it under a size, make scanned pages searchable, remove a password you know, flatten form fields, or run the full Upload-ready checklist against the portal’s rules and fix what can be fixed in one pass. You download the repaired file and re-upload it to the portal. Everything happens in your browser tab — the rejected file, often the most private one you have, is never uploaded.
How it works
- Drop the rejected file — Bindery reads what is wrong with it
- Pick the fix from the cards — the most likely repair is first
- Download the repaired file and upload it to the portal again
Questions people ask
What kinds of rejection can it fix?
The common ones: the file is over the portal’s size limit, it opens but blocks printing or copying, it needs a password you know, its pages are pictures with no searchable text, or live form fields make the portal refuse it. A file too damaged to open is sent to the Repair tool with your file staged.
Does it fix the file itself?
It reads the file and hands you to the right tool with your file already loaded — Compress or Split for size, Unlock for restrictions, OCR for scanned pages, Flatten for fields. Each tool does its own work and shows what it changed.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Reading, diagnosing and every fix run in your browser tab. The file a portal rejected is often the private one — a passport, a statement — and it never leaves your device.
