A private Word to PDF, with honest limits
Word itself exports a pixel-exact PDF, and when you have Word open that is the best converter there is. Bindery is for the other cases: a .docx on a machine without Office, a phone, a locked-down laptop, or a document too sensitive to send to a cloud converter. It unpacks the file in your browser, reads the document structure — headings, paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists, simple tables, inline PNG and JPG images — and lays it out again as a PDF on the page size and margins the document specifies.
What you get is a clean, readable PDF of the content. Fonts become Helvetica; columns, text boxes, headers and footers are simplified; shapes, SmartArt, tracked changes and comments are not drawn. The result reports how much carried over, so there is no guessing.
When it is the right tool
- A CV, letter or essay that needs to be a PDF for a portal, now, on a device without Word.
- A contract draft you would rather not upload to a converter.

After converting

Questions people ask
Will it look exactly like Word?
No — and Bindery says so up front. Structure and text carry over faithfully; fonts, columns and text boxes are simplified. The result is a clean, readable PDF rather than a pixel-perfect imitation.
Are images and tables included?
Inline PNG and JPG images are embedded; simple tables are rebuilt with borders and wrapped cell text. Unsupported image formats are counted and reported, never silently dropped.
Is my Word document uploaded?
No. The .docx is unpacked and the PDF assembled entirely in your browser.
Are .doc files supported?
No — .docx only, the format Word has used since 2007. Save a .doc as .docx in Word or LibreOffice first.
Will my fonts be embedded?
The PDF uses Helvetica for all text, which every viewer has. If the document’s typeface matters, export from Word itself.
Do headers, footers and page numbers carry over?
Not in this conversion; body content, headings, lists, simple tables and inline images do. Add page numbers to the PDF afterwards with Add page numbers.
