Student work, grades and assessment papers are opened and processed in the browser tab and never uploaded; Bindery has no server copy of a submission, a class list or an unreleased exam. That is an architectural property, not a certification: Bindery makes no claim of FERPA, GDPR or any other compliance status, and an institution’s own rules for the devices and browsers it uses still apply. An optional account stores an email address and sign-in identity, plan status, a minimal daily job count and any saved recipes or presets. Secure handoff links and signature requests are the only features that use Bindery’s storage, and they hold packages sealed on the device with AES-256 plus token and SHA-256 hashes — Bindery never has the key. A department using Teams shares presets, recipes and a logo; admins see a count of jobs per member with no file names, tools or sizes, and an audit log of administrative actions.

Can students use it without an account?
Yes. All 47 tools work without signing in, with ten completed jobs per UTC day and no file-size cap of Bindery’s own. Nothing a student processes is sent to Bindery, so there is no account to create and no data to retain on their behalf.
Does it work on the Chromebooks in the classroom?
Yes. Bindery runs in Chrome on ChromeOS with nothing to install, can be added as an app so that PDFs open from the Files app, and keeps working offline once loaded. Heavy jobs run in a background worker; a memory guard at intake says what a low-memory device can hold.
Will the accessibility check make a PDF compliant?
It tells you what a screen reader would meet — tags, language, title, alt text, headings, text layer — and what to do about each finding. It can add a title, a language, a text layer and a first heuristic structure tree; genuine tagging comes from the authoring tool’s tagged export, which the report says plainly.
