IRCC states further rules about the photo itself — recency, background, head size — that are about the picture you take, so check the official photo requirements before you frame it. If your checklist gives a different size or cap, type the numbers in. Everything runs in your browser tab: the photo is never uploaded.
How it works
- Choose the photo — the 420 × 540 frame is already chosen
- Frame your head in the shape
- Make the JPG and download it for the upload
Questions people ask
Why 420 × 540?
It is the standard digital frame for a 35 × 45 mm portrait photo at 300 DPI, which is what IRCC asks for. If your application names different numbers, type them — the tool takes any pixel size and file-size range.
How small should the file be?
The preset keeps the JPG at the best quality under a small cap, so the upload is never refused for size. If your checklist states an exact cap, set it in the size field.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The crop, resize and size search run in your browser tab, and the photo never leaves your device.
