Then choose the result. A fillable PDF gets real AcroForm fields, named from their labels and with each label as the field’s tooltip, so it fills in Acrobat, Preview, every browser and Bindery’s own Fill forms. Or fill it straight away — from My details, the profile kept only in this browser, plus whatever you type — and download a flattened copy that looks the same in every reader. Be clear about the limits. Detection reads the lines and text a form made on a computer is drawn with; a scan is a picture of a page, so scanned forms are not supported yet — add fields to a scan by hand in Create form, or type onto it with Markup. On dense or unusual layouts it misses fields and can mistake a decorative rule for a blank. That is why the review comes first, and for a field it missed, open the PDF in Create form and draw it by hand. The form never leaves your device.
How it works
- Drop the flat PDF — Fill forms opens and, finding no fields, offers Find the fields
- Check the proposed fields on the page: switch off, rename or change the kind of any, before anything is written
- Download the fillable PDF — or fill it from My details and download a flattened copy
Questions people ask
Which forms does it work on?
Forms made on a computer — exported from Word or LibreOffice, built in a form designer, or saved from a website — because their lines, boxes and labels are stored as drawing instructions and text that Bindery can read. A scanned or photographed form is a picture of each page, and scanned forms are not supported yet. For a scan, draw the fields by hand in Create form, or type onto the page with Markup.
How are the fields named?
From the printed label nearest each field — the text to its left on the same line, or just above it — turned into a plain name and made unique, so two “Date” fields do not collide. The label itself goes in as the field’s tooltip. Rename any field in the review, so the names make sense in Fill from spreadsheet and in Fill forms’ checklist.
Is it free, and is the form uploaded?
The form is read, the fields are proposed and the PDF is written in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Downloading the result is part of the free plan — three completed jobs per UTC day, files up to 25 MB, and a small “Made with Bindery” watermark on free PDF exports that Pro removes.
