Then type. The answers go into fields that sit on the printed lines and inside the printed boxes, a comb row takes one character per box, and Fill from my details puts in the name, address, email, phone number and date of birth you saved in this browser, for you to check. Download a flattened copy so the answers are part of the page in every viewer, then add a signature with Sign — a signature line comes in as an ordinary text field, switched off. Detection works on digital forms only; scanned forms are not supported yet, so a scan is still a job for Markup’s text tool or for fields drawn by hand in Create form. The guide on filling a form that isn’t fillable compares all four ways. Nothing is uploaded at any step.
How it works
- Drop the form — Fill forms opens and offers Find the fields when the PDF has none
- Check the proposed blanks on the page before anything is written; switch off any that are wrong
- Type your answers or fill from My details, then download a flattened copy and sign it with Sign
Questions people ask
Why not just put text boxes over the page?
You can — Markup’s text tool does exactly that, and on a scan it is still the way to go. On a digital form, found fields save the fiddly part: each answer sits on the line or inside the box the form drew, and a comb row takes one character per box without nudging letters into place by eye.
What if it misses a blank or marks something that is not one?
Both happen. Decorative lines, table borders and footer rules can come in as fields — switch them off in the review. A blank with no line, box or leader to mark it, or one on a dense two-column layout, can be missed or paired with the wrong label. For a missed blank, open the PDF in Create form and draw the field by hand, or add the answer with Markup after flattening.
Will the recipient see my answers?
Download the flattened copy and the answers become part of the page, so every viewer — Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, a phone — shows them the same way and nobody can clear them by accident. Keep the fillable version as well if you may need to change an answer later. Each download is one of the free plan’s three jobs a day, and free PDF exports carry a small “Made with Bindery” watermark that Pro removes.
